Trinity - Bible Meditation #biblemeditaion #trinity #god
The Scripters uniformaly and and emphathically declare that there is only one God, and non beside Him. "Is there a God beside Me? Yea, there is no God I know not any" (Isa 44:8). "Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me" (43:10). "For I am God and there is none else. I am God, and there is non like Me" (Isa 46:9). Yet the same Scriptires reveal distinctly, a plurality in the one Godhead or Deity.
"EL" and "ELOHIM"
The Hebrews word "E" mean God. "ELOHIM" is plural of "EL" and therefore it Means "Gods", Both these words, namely "EL" and "ELOHIM", are widely used in the Old Testament Scriptures for "God" but th Bible translators have used their discretion in translating "ELOHIM" as "GOD" (in singular) when reference is made to the only true God, and as "gods" (in the plural) when reference is made to heathen gods. In Exodus 20:2,3 we see "ELOHIM" USED TWICE. In one place it is translated as "God" and in the other as "gods". I am the the Lord, thy God (Elohim) ... Thou shall have no other gods (Elohim) before Me".
Again the Scripture, "Hear, O Isreal the Lord our God is one Lord" (Deu 6:4) is the slogan, and the war cry of Isreal. Even here "our God" is "our Elohim" ("Gods") n the plural.
There are more direct and distinct verses where God reveals Himself in plurality. In Genesis 1:26 we read, "God (Elohim", meaning "Gods") said let us make man in our image. after our likeness". In Genesis 3:22. And the Lord God ("Elohim"-Gods") said, Behold the man is become as one of US..."In Genesis 11:17, we read that God said, "Go to, let US go down, and there confound their language". In the same way, in the orginal Hebrew manuscript, we have "Holy Ones" (Prov 9:10), "Creators" (Eccl 12:1), "Makers" (Isa 54:5) "Masters" (Mal 1:6) all pointing to the plurality of the Godhead.
